    Altarum, a non-profit health systems research organization, is seeking a graduate student intern to support projects at our Center for Value in Health Care (CVHC) in Ann Arbor, MI.  The center aims to increase the incidence of high-value care, while decreasing that of low-value care. We also quantify sustainable health spending, track and report on health sector trends, understand health spending correlates and related cost factors, propose mitigating health policies, and support innovative health care payment programs. Finally, the center does work in related areas including assessing the value of investments in primary prevention and greater racial equity.

    Working under the direction of senior technical staff, your work may include conducting literature reviews, managing research databases, assisting in statistical analysis, and writing a variety of short and medium-length technical or policy papers. 


    • Proficiency with Microsoft suite of products, especially Excel
    • Basic capability with a database and statistical analysis software program such as SAS, Stata or SPSS preferred
    • Experience in conducting library and internet research on particular research or policy topics
    • Ability to investigate and make use of new sources of health data and applications for analyzing and displaying data
    • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment, including switching from one project to another, and tackling entirely new subjects as such issues arise
    • Excellent communication and writing skills
    • Currently enrolled in a quantitative Master’s program studying economics, public policy, public health, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or a related field
