Altarum Institute is seeking a Project Coordinator to join our Center for Healthy Women and Children (CHWC) in Ann Arbor, MI to help manage a multi-year Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services funded Medi-Cal 2020 waiver program called the Dental Transformation Initiative that is designed to reduce the burden of childhood dental disease in California.

As a Project Coordinator, you will put in place (in collaboration with our client and partners) components to improve the oral health of children in Los Angeles County. Through supporting innovative methods of identifying children at high risk for dental disease, facilitating their access to appropriate and effective oral health interventions and monitoring their progress, you’ll be helping to lead a first of its kind program to reduce dental caries - the most common chronic disease among children.

The CHWC’s mission is to improve the health of women and children by strengthening health promotion programs and systems, care coordination and the use of preventive health services. As a Project Coordinator, you’ll have the opportunity to support a variety of other CHWC projects, shape the Center’s overall strategy, and participate in diffusion activities to promote expansion of effective interventions to other states. You’ll work with a passionate, innovative team of public health professionals, analysts, and researchers.

    Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Project Director, the Project Coordinator supports the project team in planning, executing and evaluating activities to achieve project goals. Specific responsibilities include the following:

    • Effectively coordinate efforts to initiate and sustain collaboration among project partners and stakeholders
    • Provide professional client interface, ensure responsiveness to client requirements and concerns, and coordinate internal and external schedules
    • Help manage logistics related to implementing multiple project components that involve direct work with primary care providers (PCPs) and dentists, and expansion of supporting Health Information Technology (HIT) components to support referrals and care management between PCPs and dentists
    • Create, update and monitor project workplans, external progress reports and timelines to coordinate the teams’ adherence to deliverable dates and achievement of project milestones
    • Assist the Project Director with day-to-day activities in conducting project activities, and help ensure overall maximum productivity and effectiveness across the team
    • Help manage processes for staff assignments, budgets, timelines, technical documentation, project briefings and reviews
    • Identify opportunities to expand Altarum’s work in children’s oral health and other health-related issues

    • Ability to organize and coordinate complex projects and meet time-sensitive deliverables
