    Altarum Institute is seeking an Analyst to join our Center for Healthy Women and Children to support a multi-year Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services funded Medi-Cal 2020 waiver program called the Dental Transformation Initiative that is designed to reduce the burden of childhood dental disease in California. The position may be located in Ann Arbor, MI or Washington, DC.

    As an Analyst, you’ll be part of a team that works with our client and partners to implement innovative methods of identifying children at high risk for dental disease, facilitating their access to appropriate and effective oral health interventions, and monitoring their progress. You’ll be supporting a first of its kind program to reduce dental caries - the most common chronic disease among children.

    The CHWC’s mission is to improve the health of women and children by strengthening health promotion programs and systems, care coordination and the use of preventive health services. As an Analyst, you’ll have the opportunity to support a variety of other CHWC projects, shape the Center’s overall strategy, and participate in diffusion activities to promote expansion of effective interventions to other states. You’ll work with a passionate, innovative team of public health professionals, analysts, and researchers.

    Responsibilities

    Under the general direction of the Evaluation Lead, the Analyst is responsible for supporting the development and execution of evaluation plans, implementing rigorous qualitative and quantitative analyses, and conducting evaluation activities both internally and externally. Specific responsibilities include the following:

    • Contribute to the design and implementation of evaluations and effectiveness studies to assess the outcomes and performance of interventions and projects
    • Coordinate project related activities pertaining to data collection, analysis, reporting and publications
    • Follow all applicable privacy and confidentiality procedures in daily work
    • Prepare, update and monitor project workplans and timelines for evaluation activities
    • Assist project leads and Project Coordinator with day-to-day activities associated with conducting project activities, preparing progress reports, and ensuring success in completing project deliverables
    • Participate in weekly and monthly progress reporting based on deliverables across various work groups, and continuously identify areas for improvement to exceed the clients’ expectations
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the project directors or coordinators and Center leadership

    Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics or related field
    • One year of experience in public health or healthcare research, data analysis and/or reporting
    • Knowledge of a wide range of research and evaluation methods and processes, including literature reviews, qualitative methods, quantitative analysis, and technical writing
    • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required
    • Experience using SPSS, SAS, STATA, NVivo or other similar analysis software tools preferred
    • Ability to work on multiple tasks under different leads
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
