    KAI Research, an Altarum company, is pleased to announce an opening for a bilingual Women's Health Information Specialist to work on a temporary basis. The Information Specialists will work at KAI's office in Rockville, MD on a call center project. The Information Specialist will serve as a culturally sensitive first point of contact to receive, respond to, refer and document oral and/or written inquiries regarding women’s health issues. The purpose of the project is to provide comprehensive communication services. The call center will be involved in the dissemination of health information. Information specialists will respond to oral and written inquiries in English and Spanish and they will maintain knowledge sufficient to answer questions about topics such as lupus and breastfeeding in English and Spanish.

    Responsibilities

    • Respond to incoming calls, facsimiles and emails from the general public to answer specific questions pertaining to women’s health, especially and including breastfeeding counseling, in addition to other women’s health topics.
    • Perform literature, internet, and other searches to help answer questions.
    • Participates in ongoing training on issues relevant to women’s health.
    • Documents call details in a database.

    Qualifications

    • Must be Bilingual English/Spanish
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in allied healthcare or other relevant area.
    • At least two years of information specialist experience.
    • Possess knowledge of women’s health issues (i.e. bone health, lupus, heart attack, breast feeding, etc.). Specific training in these areas and as a breastfeeding peer counselor preferred.
    • Training and certification in breastfeeding counseling preferred.
    • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with lay and professional callers, client contacts, and others.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Good organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficient in word-processing and database software.
