Responsible for resource planning and allocations for clinical trials, data management, and health research projects, either government or commercial. Implements and evaluates plans and processes and institutes process improvements to expedite time sensitive delivery to the client.  Manages, trains, coaches, and monitors assigned research staff.  Performs project or portfolio management responsibilities as needed. Provide strategic support and lead departmental initiatives for marketing, business development, and the proposal process. Identifies potential Federal government opportunities and private sector clients


Essential Duties:

  • Manage project budgets, schedules and resources for assigned portfolio. Coordinate research staff and ensure appropriate integration of cross-functional team members to achieve project objectives and meet budget goals.
  • Investigate and respond to client inquiries related to project performance.
  • Lead the troubleshooting process to reach resolutions for any issues that arise during course of a study.
  • Create department processes and procedures documentation in order to support continuous project quality and portfolio management.
  • Interview and hire research support staff. Reviews and approves timesheets.  Evaluates employee performance.
  • Responsible for resource allocation and development of assigned research staff.
  • Actively participates in discussions and decisions regarding business development (BD).
  • Identify and qualify opportunities for KAI within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, present to BD review, and participate in business development go/no go decisions.
  • Meet with prospects to present KAI’s capabilities and value proposition.
  • Present research services and procedures to clients and participates in the selection of appropriate procedures for specific studies.
  • Participate in the writing of proposals and bid defense. Provide background information and determines tasks, schedules, and resources.
  • Attend conferences to represent KAI and actively market KAI’s services.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Health Science. Master’s degree in a health-related field preferred.
  • Five to seven years clinical research experience in a CRO/pharmaceutical/biotech environment.
  • Five years of clinical research project management, including budget, resource and schedule management.
  • Ability to work with and manage a multi-cultural staff.
  • Strong understanding of KAI’s service offerings, capabilities and resources.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a diverse array of clients.
